Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher’s Secret Star Wars Tryst

Star Wars, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford

We all know Han Solo and Princess Leia had great chemistry on-screen—but who knew the two characters were just as hot off-screen?  While she didn’t elaborate on all the details, actress Carrie Fisher recently admitted to having a romantic encounter of some sort with former co-star Harrison Ford.

During a British TV interview, Fisher said she went into the original installment with a plan in mind.  “I went on the film saying ‘I’m going to have an affair’, like it was a kiwi, an exotic fruit — because I’d never had one!”

This Week on TV (4/28-5/4)

House, Hugh Laurie

(You can view TV Envy’s Post-Strike Television Schedule here.)

MONDAY (4/28)
  • Deal or No Deal (NBC, 8pm):  “Darth Vader subs for The Banker in a -themed episode that also features Carrie Fisher, R2-D2 and Chewbacca, who cheer on contesants in a winner-take-all match.”  As if I needed a reason to avoid this program altogether.
  • House (FOX, 9pm):  New episode.  “House suspects that an ER patient with a sunny disposition has a bigger problem than was initially diagnosed.  The reason:  He thinks the patient is too nice.”  I have to admit it—cheery people are a freak of nature.
  • Medium (NBC, 10pm):  “Joe surprises Allison by buying her a used car, but Allison’s subsequent visions warn of the vehicle’s unsavory past.”  Is it a 1958 Plymouth Fury that responds to the name ‘Christine’?
  • CSI: Miami (CBS, 10pm):  “A clue in a case involving the discovery of a body point the CSIs to a robbery that’s being planned on a target who holds a disturbing secret.”  Murders have never been linked to anti-climatic or lame secrets.

Force Unleashed Lightsaber

If you cannot decide between the Light and the Dark Side, you can play Obi Wan one day and Darth Vader the next with the Star Wars Force Unleashed Lightsaber. The Hasbro gadget switches colors from Jedi green to Sith red and spikes come out to show your true intentions. The weapon also features activation hums and battle-like sound effects to complete the effect. The force can be with you sometime in May for about £25 (~$50.00.)

Pentagon Gets OK to Play Space Invaders

Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Editorial, Science, Transportation,

Spy SatellitePrez. G.W. Bush has allowed the Pentagon permission to use a Navy Standard Missile 3 to “intercept” the broken 5,000 lb. U.S. spy Satellite 193 and save us from its bulk as well as its toxic hydrazine fuel. Expected to otherwise arrive on Earth during the first week in March, there was no specific time given, but the “window” should open in the next week or so. This is the first time an attempt of this kind has been made and the missile’s software has been updated to give it a better chance of reaching its target. We wonder if another satellite will be on hand to film the event. George Lucas could certainly use it in his next Star Wars Episode.

RoboThespians Find an Audience

Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Internet, Misc. Tech, Music, Science, Videos,

Since most robots are made to serve, it’s nice to discover one that solely entertains. Engineered Arts’ RoboThespians speak, sing, tell stories, and do a dance step or two. You can watch it perform Robert Shaw in “Jaws,” something very “Alien,” “C3PO,” “Singin’ in the Rain,” and our fave of Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker. If you are fortunate enough to live in the UK, you can see them perform at The Eden Project in Cornwall. If not, there is always YouTube. It ain’t Shakespeare, but it is amusing.

Darth Vader Transforms

Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Misc. Tech, Movies, Toys,

Darth/Dark Star TransformerWhat do you get when you cross Star Wars and one of our fave toys? It’s the Darth Vader Transformer, of course. At a height of 11-inches, he will wield his lightsaber and blaster with sounds and lighting. When you want him to change tactics, turn him into a Death Star. Although he will be smaller (about 6 3/4-inches,) he will launch projectiles at anything not belonging to the Dark Side. This baddie/battle station needs 3 AA batteries (included) and is available with 3 Storm Troopers and TIE Fighter mini-vehicles for $49.95.

(Thanks, Jennifer)
